If there is ANY urine or feces in the box, she will not use it, and urinates on the floor next to it instead. I try to be diligent about cleaning the 3 litterboxes, but I do have to work full time and have two cats. Inevitably, there are times when she has to go when the box is dirty. After months of frustration and cleaning cat urine off the linoleum, I decided to try pee pads. I line the floor around the litter boxes with these pads. I love the sticky tabs because I can put them partially on the wall too, to catch the spray. They stay in place even though she scratches after and tries to bury her mess. These pads are perfect, and they have made my life so much easier! They never leak, and I just have to change the pads as needed. The box lasted several months, and was worth every penny! The only downfall is that the adhesive sticks to the linoleum and is difficult to remove. The company recommends soaking with a hot towel for 30 minutes. I have not tried that method yet, but I found that soaking with white vinegar for several minutes works fairly well.
