## Description

Includes a single jar (12 ounces) of Iron filings (medium particle size: 40 mesh). Jar features a convenient shaker lid that turns to adjust flow (like a spice jar). Usage tips: sprinkle a small amount of Iron filings onto a piece of paper (not included) and move a magnet (not included) underneath to illustrate the pole patterns of the magnetic force field. Gently tap the paper to periodically reposition the filings as you wish. If shaker lid becomes clogged, turn the dial back and forth several times while blowing on it very lightly. Storage: when you're done exploring, fold the paper and use it to carefully pour the filings back into the jar for mess-free clean up and storage. Child safety tested for ages 6+/grades K+.

Review: This stuff tastes horrible. - As I was frying up my pork chops, I decided to try this new type of pepper, and oh my God does this stuff taste horrible. Leaves a metallic taste in your mouth for hours after. Crunchy as all get-out. The really strange thing is, we were all on a camping trip when I ate those pork chops, and the next day, everyone's compass kept pointing toward me. Very odd to say the least, and I'm starting to suspect it is the reason I have to avoid being around magnets now as well. Seriously - Great product. Decent price. Works great for making ferro-fluid as the iron filings are very small.

I was looking for a somewhat coarse bottle of Iron Filings (having previously bought "fine" which was like powder) for use in making makeshift slug-tuned iron core tuning inductors. These Iron Filings are just "grainy" enough to fill the bill perfectly. Around the size of sand or salt grains. PERFECT for my needs.

A: I'm using these in a school setting so I bought wand magnets.

**Q: Does it contain lead?**
A: NO, it does not contain lead. Our product is rigorously tested by a third-party lab approved by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. It is tested as a toy/children's product for ages 6+, and as such, complies with the US toy safety regulations. As part of that in-depth battery of tests (CPSIA and the ASTM F963 toy safety standard), our iron filings are tested for potentially toxic elements and metals, including lead. We are a US children's products manufacturer and do not cut corners on safety.

**Q: Can I add this to regular indoor wall paint to create a magnetic wall?**
A: No, this product was not designed to be added to paint.

**Q: Would adding this to magnetic paint improve the hold of magnets?**
A: It may help but it may not improve it as much as you would like. I guess you just have to try a small sample and see how much you need to mix to make any appreciable effect.
