Older model Brita filter was larger than needed and had paid its dues. It was probably way past time for replacement. This one is small enough to easily fit into my fridge. Easy to fill with a built in filter monitor that gives auto updates with each fill, no button pressing required. Functionally there shouldn't be any difference between this model and my previously owned older model but somehow the water just tastes cleaner. Can't explain that though due to using the same model filters. If I had anything to critique it would be the hinge flap for the spout portion. The plastic rod for securing it is just slightly too short and the flap hinge can easily fall right off if you touch it even slightly. I get around that by just not putting my hand where the water comes out and problem solved. I bought it to replace my old Brita. It was scratched up and not as stylish as this one. The only difference that I can tell is the old Brita you could fill the top part with water and it was enough to fill the bottom after running through the filter. This one you have to put the water in the top and wait till it drains down and then fill the top part up again. I still wouldn’t trade it for my old one.
