Review: Great little backup light - The D580 is a great little backup light. I took it on a commercial job to see how it compared to my larger lights. It lit up the water almost as much as my light that is $100 more. Plus it being a smaller size it allows me to store it easier and leave room for other equipment. The twist on allows me not to spend time looking for a button. You can see in the video how it completely lit up the propeller I had been working on. The beam of light reached as far as I could see at depth. The battery life has been excellent so far. My only suggestion is to get some rechargeable AAAs so you can reuse them when they do finally die. The end of the light even has an opening that you can tie a bolt snap to. Altogether a great little to add to your dive locker.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great small, sturdy, versatile and inexpensive light

The Orcatorch D580 is a good addition to a diver's gear (I dive a lot and have a lot of different lights for different situations). First impressions - construction is extremely solid and it's easy to get running. The light is small (can fit in the palm of your hand), making it very useful for unobtrusively carrying with your gear - for instance as a backup light on a night dive or during a day dive where you will occasionally be looking into caves or crevices. Unlike some lights, it doesn't have a switch which could drain the battery in your bag or provide another component to leak/break - you simply twist the body to turn the light on and off. I feel this will last longer than some if its peer lights. The light itself is not the brightest, but it's completely adequate for looking into nooks and crannies (see the photos) as well as deeper dark areas - it illuminated a green sea turtle swimming out of a drainage pipe toward me and made a great encounter. The light came equipped with extra O-rings as well as a battery adapter that allows operation with 3 AAA batteries (alternatively, you can use a 18650 rechargeable battery - not included) - this provides a lot of flexibility if recharging is inconvenient. Overall I really like this light and it'll have a permanent spot on my gear. Pros: (+) Small, sturdy and simple light that should last awhile. (+) Can use AAA batteries or rechargeable battery (not included) (+) Tight beam that provides good illumination for day/night use (+) Inexpensive Cons (-) Limited brightness and tight beam make it not well suited as a primary night diving light Overall: A great light which can be a valuable, important part of your dive gear.
