Tongs meet with about 1" clearance with tong ends aligned allowing you to pick up and serve bread/cake made in a loaf pan easily. We store our banana bread in a Lock and Lock container and this allow us to cut a slice in the container and removing the individual slices without getting crumbs everywhere.
