Review: Very nice reel. - Great reel. Great value for money. Great all purpose set up. Put on a Diawa Tatula 7 ft med fast rod. 10 lb Seaguar stealth braid to 12 lb Seaguar flouro with an FG knot. Catfish, Carp, bass, bluegill and most calico bass and such on half day boats no problem. Good for throwing swimbaits and such. Drag is extremely robust and the reel is so smooth and durable.

**Q: how big is it like in comparison to something**
A: These reels run way bigger in terms of sizing than Shimano. the 3000 is like a 4000-4500 in terms of Shimano sizing. If you plan on using it for bass in freshwater, get a smaller size. This reel can handle bonito, striper, salmon, and other big fish. I hope that helps:)

**Q: Can i use this 4500 reel on a 8 ft medium heavy rod?**
A: yes

**Q: I got the BG 5000, need to pick a rod for shore fishing mahi mahi. Any have suggestions?**
A: Bro if you're fishing from shore for mahi mahi and you have a 5000 get atleast a 10ft rod !! Lamiglass is top choice among surf fishermen

**Q: What size reel should i buy?  i have a 12' ugly stick heavy surf rod and cast up to 8 oz but usually 5 oz pyramids and sometimes 3 oz artificials.**
A: Correct - the BG5000 is the right size for a 12ft or 13ft rod.  My BG5000 took 330yrds of 50lb Jbraid and is very nicely balanced.  The 6500 is a VERY big reel - about a shimnano 25,000 size.

I own 2 6000's, 2 4000's, 2 3000's, and a 2500. They are all well used in the surf, inshore, and pier. The drags are solid and smooth. The reels are not featherweight, but contain NO plastic gears or parts inside. Nice smooth retrieve. Crank bearings are sealed, which is nice. Learn to do the necessary maintenance, and rinse with fresh water after salt use, and they will last a long time. It only takes a couple small screwdrivers and some reel grease. Videos are available on YouTube.
