I was surprised to see that the pocket on each side is actually three pockets--one large with two half pockets in front, one behind each buckle.  The pockets are also a little bigger than expected.

I stood outside at a Auction to get an american flag western saddle pad on Jan 1. I was there for 12 hours. I rode with it the first time and I fell off the horse - the saddle slide right off. I didnt KNOW I needed a different type of pad. Turn to amazon and bought this. Now I dont fall.
