So far my daughter has not yet read the sequels, but I have. I loved the first three! They were fun to read, hard to put down, and tickle the imagination. The character development is very good, and the setting is well painted. The fourth book of the series, is actually a prequel. I'm having a hard time getting into it as much, I'm only half through that one though. The characters in the books are around 12, and books 1-3 are appropriate for younger kids (mine are 7 & 9), the 4th one is a tad more questionable in that department. Not inappropriate necessarily, just harder to relate with.
