It worked well and held up the tarp nicely through three stormy days so far this year.The poles are very sturdy in the up/down direction, meaning they will easily support a tarp, tied down tightly at the corners, but they are not rigid side-to-side, so they wobble a bit if you push on them. This makes no difference in supporting a properly tied down tarp.
