The data is all text and you're talking about a lot of text just to get to 1GB.How many YEARS of data do you want to store on the card even if you have 8 sensors.Ive got data for 7 channels since May 8th. So we're talking from May 8 - thru all of June 1Total space used on the card == 2.03MB There are 1,000 MB in one GBLets say even 3MB for one month's data1000/3 = 333 months333 months = 27 yearsSo 1 GB card can hold 27 yrs of data **Q: What is the range & accuracy of the humidity sensors ?** A: At the beginning all 5 of my sensors were very accurate in both temperature and humidity. One year later one outdoor sensor failed on humidity readings and was replaced under warranty. Both current outdoor sensors show too high humidity readings, the deviation is way more than 5%. Indoors sensors also show higher humidity levels than they should, but the deviation is not that big. I have a higher end temperature/humidity meter and use it for calibration. One year ago all my sensors and the meter, brought in one location, showed about the same readings. It is not the case anymore. I live in Pennsylvania, where humidity levels are often 100% or close to it. Most likely high humidity damages the sensors, even 60% indoors humidity affects them in a negative way. It is a pity, I really like this unit. Maybe I should get replacement sensors or stop relying on humidity readings... **Q: Is it possible to write my own software to pull temperature and humidity data from the console via USB?** A: The USB device that shows up is the bare STM32 (STM electronics microcontroller) "HID" device, which is what shows up on the "non-programming" USB port of an STM32. What this means is that they wrote the code for the device to interact with their windows software, and that means that there is an API, but it's closed source, so no idea if it can be reverse engineered. It's possible that someone with an oscilloscope could see what is happening during the handshake between the windows software and the device when you start the software... if someone were so inclined, and write something in python to accomplish the same handshake and API. Unless it's encrypted, but i doubt it, at this price point. **Q: Is it possible to operate two different base stations each with their own sensors?** A: Yes, you can operate 2 base stations (consoles), but a max of 8 sensors within the RF receiving range. Then, you can display each sensor's data readings on the 1st base station, the 2nd, or both base stations. Well worth the price. *by C***K on December 19, 2018* I have used the Ambient Weather WS-3000-X5 for a little over a month now and haven't experienced any of the negative issues I've read about in some of the comments submitted. The instructions were clear and the set up was simple, although I haven't used the pc connection extensively but the installation was straight forward and easy. The display was a little smaller than expected but no problems reading the info, and it doesn't take up much space on my desk. The sensors and receiver all appear well made both in form and function. When placing any sensor outside you should take care in positioning them so that the don't receive direct sunlight and are protected from rainfall or other water sources. Initially I set the units up in my study arranging them with at least a 5' distance from the others and set up to display the temperature and humidity, then left the room and waited. Around an hour later I returned and the temperature readings had settled out and were the same with the exception of two being 1/10th of a degree higher than the others and in agreement with the settings on my air conditioner thermostat. The humidity readings were displaying similar readings with each other, no more than 1/10th of a percent difference. After monitoring them for two days I relocated one to the attic, the garage, my home gym, and my gun safe, keeping the 5th in my study temporarily, where they've been for the past month. All have been operating well within my expectations. With the history graphing it is easy to visualize changes that have occurred as you would expect the differences in temperature and humidity to be in the respective locations throughout the day and night. I have not had any sensors drop connection with the receiver at this point. I am unsure what the battery life will be in the sensors but not really worried as the batteries are easy to replace. This morning I moved sensor (ch1) from my study to an outside shaded area of the backyard, The receiver indicated the correct outside temp within 15 minutes as you can see from the picture. Within an hour the humidity reading raised from 42% to 54%. While the attic (ch3) shows 57% humidity, the attic generally indicates 20% less humidity than weather sites report, probably because my ac and furnace units are located in the attic. I expect (ch1) humidity reading to continue to rise as it updates.
