I recommend using dental floss -- as any good punk would -- and sewing the overlapped bit right away. It's incredibly comfortable and I can wear my Buddy Holly-esque glasses under it, making the eyes fit better. The eye holes are weird. The mouth hole is weird. They are a bit off, but you kind of get used to it. Overall, this is just a fun thing to own. I bought 4 of them -- 1 single and a 3-pack -- for some short films and I think they're just a fun novelty to have, especially if you're put in the witness-protection program after testifying against the Russian mob, specifically the Mirminsky family.
