A: The small end of the batteries go "into" the magnifier. The larger -- flat -- side stays on top.

**Q: what batteries doe this take?**
A: Requires 2 ag2 lithium batteries

**Q: Does this 40x loupe have triplet lenses?**
A: I am sorry but don’t know what is triplet, it has two lenses that serve to see coins, stamps and similar items. They have replaceable batteries to extend their life. Easy to keep clean and closes very neatly to carry in pocket or in its own case.

**Q: Has anyone found a replacement battery that actually works with this? I have bought 2 different brands of LR1130 and both were too thin and wouldn't w**
A: In theory, the thickness of the same type of battery should be the same.
