I really wanted a simple rugged backpack for when I'm out rockhounding and this things really delivers on that. Its a nice blend of old school aesthetics blended with more modern padding and features. While I wish the leather straps were fully functional, the magnetic button clasps hold up really well, and it wouldn't be hard to modify if you're handy with leather-working. The side water bottle pocks are a bit shallow, but I've found their width and length snuggly fit a standard Nalgene water bottle. Being a top opening bag allows me to generously pack this backpack, and the leather cinch drawstring helps to firmly hold everything in place.
