**Q: I played one, and the holes are extremely far apart. Is this true of all alto recorders, regardless of the material used to make one?**
A: There is nothing unusual about the hole placement on this alto.  I have played several and they are all about the same.  I also play the tenor which is difficult to pick up and play if I haven't warmed up a bit first.  Want some fun?  Yamaha also makes a sopranino and it is SMALLER than the normal soprano recorder.  It reads the same notation as the alto.

A: You want a Soprano or Tenor to get the key of C.

**Q: I am debating between this "beginner" alto and one in the 300 series. I am an adult beginner. The 300's seem to be 2 inches longer. Does that matter?**
A: It will matter.  You will need to spread you fingers apart more on the longer instrument.  It may have a better tone and be worth it.  Up to you.
