One of them uses it over the side of the bathtub to help them get in and out, as well as stability while showering. **Q: Would this work for someone who has use of only one hand/arm?** A: Maybe. I guess it would depend on how you wanted to use it. I found it light enough to switch from using it on just one leg, to using it like a miniature walker. But that's because both my knees are painful, but my left is worse than my right. So I use it mostly on my left side, using my left hand. But when both knees need a rest, I rotate the cane to the front and hold onto it with both hands. The good news is the cane stands upright when I'm switching it, so no fumbling to pick it up. If you have enough strength and dexterity in your one hand, this cane could work. **Q: Will it help me get out of bed after back surgery I need to stabilize myself as I try and get off the bed** A: It did not work for me. Too light and flimsy. When I tried to stand up from my bed, it rocked and I had to grab my dresser. Very disappointed in it.
