Or some movie cameras that offer compatibility through different adapters. Or when considering building one's own a portable storage. But the short answer is: yes, this card is faster than the fastest proper CF card. If your options are CF or XQD, and you need speed, XQD is superior. If you need capacity over speed, CF is available in 512gb (XQD maxes out at 256gb as of 1/2018).
