I am concerned about the wide bottom.** A: yes **Q: Can anyone explain the differnce between this bulb (br30) and the slimmer-looking A19?** A: BR size is bigger in width and good canister type lights. A19 are your regular size light bulb for lamps etc. Both operate and function the same. **Q: If you have multiple can you control the color of each bulb individually?** A: Yes, they can be controlled individually or as groups with preset effects or your own "scenes" that you can create. Lots of flexibility. **Q: Is it compatible with E27?** A: If you are referring to the socket diameter, I'm not sure. I didn't have a problem with mine, but I don't know what size mine is ... LOL ! They do have adapters you can buy at the hardware store such as ACE Hardware, and they are not expensive.
