These Jeeps provide a separate ground wire that attaches to the back chassis of the original stereo. Because of this, these Metra harnesses do not include a ground wire connection. However, most aftermarket stereo harnesses do include a ground wire. What to do? To avoid having to splice the separate ground wire of your Jeep, I would recommend getting an 12 a gauge male tab connector to attach to the harness ground wire of your new stereo, which you can use to insert into the female connector of your Jeep. Metra should have included one, but I guess they want to nickel and dime you. **Q: can i use this for my 2001 pt cruiser?** A: using the 'will it fit' guide at the top of the Amazon page for this connector it says it does fit your PT Cruiser. BTW it made my stereo install very easy, and with no cutting and splicing of the wiring harness. **Q: Does this fit a 2001 dodge ram** A: Take the radio out and take a look if your car has two plug gray and black. I am pretty sure will work **Q: Does the harness have wires for steering wheel volume and scan controls** A: The harness I used did not have spare wires for those controls. My Jeep does not have steering wheel controls for the radio functions. Connects straight to the factory connectors behind the dash ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Some modifications needed for 2nd gen dodge ram *by S***6 on 9 February 2026* This item worked on my 2001 ram 3500 with some modifications. Everything worked but the aftermarket radio would not dim. To fix this I had to re-pin the grey plug so that the orange illumination wire was in the proper position. It was easy to re-pin I just removed the blue piece out of the front of the plug, pulled the orange wire out of the back with some force and then seated it in the proper spot and re inserted the blue piece.
