It's not Amazons issue, it is the manufacturer. It arrived with a broken drawer three times. Amazon worked with us each time but it was a pain because the desk weighs 80 pounds. The desk itself seems pretty sturdy, but is packaged in very thin foam and the drawer breaks easily. In the end we decided to do our best and glue it back together rather than ship a third desk back. However, the desk survived unscathed. Assembly was very quick and easy. The laminate is a very attractive and convincing replica of oak with a slight white washing effect. The photo on Amazon is an accurate representation of the color. The desk is quite heavy and very sturdy. It has just the modern, minimalist, and slightly beachy look I was going for. It's a great value for the low price point, and I am very pleased with my purchase.
