I sprayed just under the surface, trying to walk and cover the largest area I could. After a month, I was preparing to come back here and say the product didn't work at all. The duckweed appeared to change color, but was still present on the water. After a very dry year, we finally got a rainfall and that churn of the water made all the dead duckweed sink, and we had a perfectly clear pond the rest of the year and through the fall and winter! I mention this, because some reviewers seem to think that you can spray this in the water, and all organic material will magically disappear in a week. That's not the case. You need to apply early, or be prepared to wait for results. This year I'm going to apply it earlier in the spring as a preventive measure.
