It really does heat up your body and make you sweat. It's great because it will make you sweat more than usual, but it doesn't leave you feeling like you're carrying all the sweat. The vest is breathable so you don't feel soaked. Others have said that it smells when you first get it.... and it does, but it eventually goes away after a few rinses. I've been removing the vest when I get home and take it in the shower with me so I can rinse it off in there. Then I wring it out as much as I can, put it on a hanger, and hang it on the shower curtain rod. It dries really fast. I've never had to worry about it smelling weird. I don't believe it "burns fat away", but it definitely helps with heating you up to sweat away the water weight.
