Review: Best in class magnetic hooks, both functionally and aesthetically - These magnetic hooks are fabulous. I'm using them on an internal metal door, to hang towels and serve as a temporary way station for purses and shopping bags. They are far sturdier than typical neodymium magnetic hooks, which are generally comprised of a metal hook screwed on to a magnetic base. With those models, either the hook is disproportionately lightweight compared to the strength of the magnet, so you can't fully capitalize on the magnet's strength; and/or the screw-on hook is too small to carry items that the hook and magnet are otherwise sturdy enough to support. I tried a number of hooks in those other styles, including the most highly rated ones, and this beats them all for functionality. This set is also much more aesthetically pleasing than the other styles, being made of just one piece of substantial metal, with a modern, rounded shape and a shiny chrome-like finish. The only downside is that the finish on both my hooks is a tad rough. But this is a minor quibble. Also, just FYI, while these hooks can carry a heavier load, including mid-weight jackets and purses, than comparably rated magnetic hooks I tried, they won't be able to hold a typical filled grocery bag (e.g., filled with produce) without sliding.

I bought them to hold some light exercise equipment on the back of a metal staircase, but when I saw how strong they were, I tried my kettle bells and they worked perfectly. Even though they're advertised to hold 4 lbs, I've got a 5-lb weight hanging from one of them and it hasn't budged. Only (slight) concern I have is that they're so strong that it's hard to move them - if I weren't able to slide them off the back of the step, it would be really hard to detach them. But overall this product has solved a big problem and I would definitely buy again! Update 2/16/19: They still haven't budged an inch!
