As a light source LED's offer several advantages over their halogen counterparts including very low power consumption, compact size and durability. Unlike most LED lights currently on the market that position the LED aimed straight out forward the LP530 Lights aim the LEDs at the reflector. This new orientation of the light source allows for far better beam control and output than the conventional layout. In place of a traditional halogen bulb each light uses two 3W LEDs producing a very white beam with a color temperature of 6000 Kelvin. These are led so they dont pull much more than 2 amps max. I have mine wired through the PIAA relay included in the kit on my motorcycle. **Q: The manufacturer suggests these LP550 lights are for use with high beam lights only or can you use with low beam also?** A: The LP Series lights are SAE-Y compliant, meaning that they are an Auxiliary high beam ("driving") lamp. SAE-F compliant lamps (Fog) are allowed to be ran in tandem with your low beams and that is dependent upon your local regulations. **Q: What is the depth of these lights?** A: With the cover/stone gurad on the front, they measure approximately 4 1/2 inches deep, and 5 1/2 inches in diameter.
