The water was brown. Couldn't even see the 2nd step of the pool. The 2nd day the brown became a green. Put two cups of Cutrine Plus in the deep end. Two days later it went back to brown. It took 5 days of cleaning the filter 2x a day but the pool was crystal clear day 6. No algae in the (new) filter. As ppl who do their own pools know algae in the filter drastically reduces the filter's efficiency reducing the time between necessary cleanings. Algae in the filter was my biggest concern. I let the pool go for another week with high chlorine and algaecide levels to clean the tannin stains and scum lines accumulated during the winter when it was drained. The levels of chlorine and algaecide reduced over time and filter cleanings. I declared it ready and the Ex came over and collected a bottle of pool water to have it tested. It tested 'perfect' at the local pool supply store and she was complimented on how clean the water was. IMO this is good stuff for spring pool startup. Since it's not specified for swimming pools I'm sticking with In the Swim's pool algaecide during swimming season.
