## Overview

The Morakniv Garberg Survival (S) Stainless Steel is a premium full-tang fixed blade knife featuring a 4.3-inch drop point blade made from thick 0.13-inch Sandvik stainless steel. Designed for bushcraft, camping, and survival, it offers exceptional durability and edge retention. Its symmetrical stainless steel handle supports ambidextrous use, paired with a high-quality leather sheath equipped with a secure click-lock and belt loop for easy carry. Weighing just over 10 ounces, this knife balances ruggedness with portability, making it a trusted tool for outdoor professionals and enthusiasts alike.

## Description

Designed just for adventurers, this rugged outdoor knife is designed to adapt to challenging situations and is an excellent choice when you need a safe, robust tool close at hand. It comes equipped with a fire-starter-compatible blade complete with a semi-matte finish. The barrel-shaped polymer handle features a soft friction grip, finger guard, and encases a full-tang recycled Swedish stainless steel blade that provides superior strength and stability with every cut. Unlike other off-grid knives, this knife is ideal for working safely and efficiently in various weather conditions all year round thanks to an exceptionally hard blade and ergonomic handle. The durable leather sheath easily attaches to your belt.

Review: Solid, thick full tang knife of excellent quality - Morakniv on steroids! Very thick and solid full tang blade. Excellent quality construction. Same excellent Sandvik stainless steel and sharp grind as in the Campion but much thicker blade. This knife will be able to take massive punishment. Perfect for a convenient size yard work or camp knife. Not pretty in the least so I won’t hesitate to put this knife to work. I normally would not think of batoning a knife blade to split wood but this beast should be able to handle it. Now my small disappointments: - The handle has the most minimal swells for a guard to prevent your hand slipping out onto the blade when thrusting. Granted this knife is not meant for fighting or stabbing and the handle texture is grippy, but I just prefer a little more hand guard on a larger knife like this. The upside is that the symmetrical handle allows reversing in the sheath for left or right hand wear. - I am disappointed in the leather sheath. It is too bulky for a 4” knife. The flap could have been 1/2” short and trimmer. I wish they offered a deep pouch leather sheath without the flap. I have ordered the alternative nylon Multi-Mount sheath to see if it is handier and more trim. - Apparently from other comments the price of the Garsberg has gone up from from $50 to the current $73. It would be a unquestionable value at $50. At $73 it is getting too close to the much better Fallkniven F1 at $95, and not sure it is that much more useful than the still-robust Morakniv Kansbol at $34 (which shares the same sheaths as the Garsberg). Those are slight cons. Overall extremely impressed with the Garsberg. But I do recommend buyers to consider the Fallkniven F1 or Morakniv Kansbol as well.
Review: Excellent quality knife for a rather hefty price tag. - Knife is solidly built. The quality of steel and edge-holding is blameless. The leather sheath is top quality. The knife has the heft which none of the other Mora knives have. The price is a little too much for the worth of the knife, and in my opinion, Mora will have to do better, if it wants to appeal to the broader user spectrum. The knife is ready for a heavy duty use. I would not feel under-prepared to be in the wilderness. Yet I cannot see this knife as a do-it-all knife. Human beings invented saw and ax for good reasons. There are tasks that calls for saw and ax, and there are tasks that calls a knife. But if Mora Garberg is the only tool you have, you will do all things needed, and Garberg will supply most of the time. As for feathering a stick, 2mm thick carbon steel seems to do a better job. I find Pro C to be the over-all best little knife in my opinion, however, among the Mora offerings, considering the value for the money.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Other than just being full tang and a little bigger is this knife any better than a Companion HD?**
A: I can't imagine paying nearly $100 for a Mora when the Morakniv Craftline HighQ Robust is $17. While not full tang the high carbon steel in the Robust is better and same thickness at 3.2mm. A full tang in a 4" knife doesn't add much in the way of strength.

**Q: Can it be inserted in the molle sheath left or right handed?**
A: Yes. I have mine mounted for left hand grab and operation.

**Q: Should this knife be oiled? if yes, is extra virgin olive oil ok (to allow use with food)? will oiling this knife diminish its firestarting ability?**
A: It's stainless steel so no oil is required unless you live in a very wet, humid or salt air environment. A tiny amount of olive wouldn't hurt if you like but remember, vegetable oils can go rancid in time. I use USP mineral oil on the blades of my carbon steel knives. It's not harmful to humans and will protect the blades. My Garberg has nothing on it...just wiped off/dry after use. As for fire starting, I don't know because as I said, I don't keep oil on mine.

**Q: Can this knife be mountes horizontally?**
A: For clarification, the multi-mount can be mounted horizontally. The leather and standard plastic sheaths cannot.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a great, basic field knife.
*by S***K on January 4, 2020*

I purchased this knife with the leather sheath for a great price on Amazon right before Christmas. While it is not a fancy knife, it offers great value for what I paid. The full tang ensures this knife will stand up to hard use. The handle has a nice shape that is very easy to grasp. As you may have read elsewhere, the handle material isn't real grippy like other Mora knives, but I don't think that is going to be a problem for me. I live in the Northwest and purchased the stainless version so I don't have to worry about it rusting. The spine of the blade has nice sharp corners that work well with fire steels. You can also use the butt of the tang with a fire steel. Keep in mind that if you want to use this knife with a flint make sure to get the carbon steel blade version. I'm very happy I purchased this knife, and I'm sure it will be with me for a long, long time.
