My dog is just over a year old and 38 lbs , and she likes to pull a lot on walks. By the numbers, this leash is the one I need for her weight/size, but it seemed like overkill for our big puppy. Well made and holding up well as our primary leash several times each day for months. **Q: Can you help me decide between cord and tape? Does the tape rewind as easily as the cord? Does it wear as well? Thanks!** A: Cord lasts longer and does not stick in the mechanism. The tape is flat and twists around necessitating taking the unit apart and rewinding by hand after getting out the kinks. Yes the cord can cut your hand if you try to use your hand to grab the cord instead of using the brake built into the handle but so can the tape to a lesser extent. This should only be an issue if you are not paying attention to your dog and surroundings.
