I do not believe they would scratch wooden floors. I have a cheap vinyl on my floors and I have had no problem. **Q: I cannot figure out how to fold up the chair.** A: Here's the easiest way.... The back of the seat snaps into place to make it secure. You hear the click when you fully open the chair. To close the chair you need to 'unlock' it. Step 1: Put your foot gently (not full weight) on the front bar under the front of the seat. Your goal is to provide gentle resistance so seat can unlock and chair can fold. Step 2: Fold the chair as you would any other folding chair (lifting front of the seat toward backrest). Your foot (which is gently holding the front 'legs' down) will allow the chair to unlock.
