Review: Oh Ya! - I love this thing! I was using a smaller less powerful juicer and decided that I needed something faster and that would reduce prep time. I was spending a lot of time cutting my fruit and veggies just so I could get it into my old juicer. To be fair, my other juicer worked fine and did what it was suppose to, it just wasn't efficient for my needs. I love Breville products and I had great expectations for this juicer. I did my research and I knew what I features I was looking for. I wanted something that had a powerful motor to grind through harder fruit and produce with out bogging the motor and I wanted a juicer that had a feed channel that would minimize my prep time. I came across a few models and brands that seemed to fit the criteria, but my love for Breville products (based on experience and not marketing) made my decision simple. After learning more about the juicers that fit my criteria I really felt that buying a juicer that was all metal was in my best interest. Aesthetically it fit my preference and taste and fit in with my current line-up of small kitchen appliances. Materially, the stainless steel seemed a more durable option than the resin plastics of other brands. Additionally, stainless steel in my opinion, is easier to sterilize and holds up well in the dishwasher and I don't have to worry about fading or cracking. Now on to the juicing. I opened the box and to my expectation the juicer was packed well. I came out of the box ready to use. I cleaned the parts that would touch my juice as recommended. I turned on the motor and was surprised at how quiet it was. My smaller juicer sounded like a chainsaw in comparison, not to mention the motor on my smaller juicer was only 125w compared to the 1000w of the 800JEXL. I expected that it would be louder just because of the motor size difference but again it was surprisingly quite. I juiced apples, carrots, celery, oranges, pears, beets, cucumber, kale, spinach and ginger to make my normal juice. It took literally 5 minutes whereas my older juicer took about a half hour. Prep of produce and fruit was easy as I did not need to cut anything. It all fit right into the large feed tunnel - one of the key reasons I bought this juicer. I noticed that I got more juice out of this juicer than my previous one. I know now that is because of the motor and juicing mesh. Because of the motor size combined with the mesh, the combination extracts more juice from the produce and fruit. This ultimately saves me money in the long run although I am not able to quantify that at this point considering I have only been using it for a couple of weeks now. All-in-all, I HIGHLY recommend this juicer! Breville is a GREAT brand and I am pleased with their quality and performance. The description of the machine in the manufacturers marketing is as promised and it is understated in my opinion. I appreciate quality and although this model may seem a bit high in price for some, I can only say you get what you pay for!
Review: Excellent juicer. - I prefer the Vitamix, even though the Vitamix is not a juicer. This is the best juicer made for home use. Well made, and well constructed. It has two speeds. One for hard fruits and vegetables, the other for soft fruits and vegetable. The red button shuts it off. It is easy to clean. I highly recommend it. Okay, I am going to revise my review. Before you buy a product, the most important reviews to read are the ones that rate a product the lowest. I have only used my juicer a dozen times. Fruits and vegetables are expensive, so the real cost of a juicer is not the juicer but the cost of stuff you put into it. I personally had no problem using the this juicer. I thought it made juice quickly. I didn't have a problem with juicer leaking like others here have. After reading the one-star reviews, I conclude the following: Breville has poor customer service. This machine only has a one-year warranty compared to much longer warranties given by other manufacturers. Some people like the cheap $90 Jack Lalaine juicer better than than this one. Some people have a problem with the spinning, cutting disk getting dull after very short use. I bought this juicer to make a drink called "Happy's Special" sold at Julio's Juice Bar and Natural Foods Emporium. The drink is made from carrots, beets, apples, cucumbers, celery, spinach, ginger, and garlic. I would add parsley, a splash of lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste. I juice the beet stalks. This juicer does a good job making this drink which I really can't make in the Vitamix. I add ice to the Vitamix when I make Happy's Special. Julio's adds no ice, and serves it warm. I learned you have to add the garlic and ginger in a shoot full of fruits and vegetable or they will shoot back up the shute or shoot into the pulp container without being juiced. I find that my pulp is relatively dry. I wouldn't use this juicer for juicing soft fruits like blueberries or tomatoes. I think the Vitamix does a much better job on these. Here are some other recipes from Julio's: Valencia: Carrots, beets, and oranges Happy's Special: Carrots, beets, ginger, garlic, celery, parsley, spinach, and apples, cucumber Cucumber Summer: Cucumbers, pineapple, and celery Immune Zoom: Carrots, beets, celery, ginger, garlic, lemons, and oranges Clean Sweep: tomatoes, pepper, carrots, celery, and dash of tabasco sauce V-6: Carrots, beets, celery, spinach, tomatoes, and parsley Ruby Red Juice: Carrots, beets, and celery Green Goddess: Celery, parsley, spinach, cucumbers, cilantro, romaine lettuce, apples, and limes Fantasy: Beets, carrots, kiwi, and blueberry Happy Days: Carrots, beets, and apples. Julio's use a centrifugal juicer to juice carrots, and maybe beets. I am not sure about the beets. He pours the carrot juice (or carrot-beet mixture) into a Vitamix. Then adds the rest of the fruits and vegetables. Whole oranges, apple quarters, pineapples, and blueberries should be "juiced" in the Vitamix. You can even juice a certain amount of carrot in a Vitamix. It is just that carrots (and most likely beets) have too great a ratio of fiber to juice. I would only juice the carrots and beets. You probably lose too much expensive fruit and vegatable in the Breville. I would "juice" the apples, pineapple, ginger, garlic, spinach, and cucumbers in the Vitamix. I think you can juice celery in either machine. I would chop the celery up into one-inch lengths before I added it to the Vitamix because it is stringy. I feed food into the Breville as slowly as I possibly can. The faster you feed food into a juicer, the less efficient it becomes. Just because you can juice a dozen carrots and a apple in a few seconds does not mean you have to do so. I wrap one of my hands around the Breville plunger to prevent my other hand from feeding food too quckly. I literially feed in food as slow as I possibly can, allow the blade of the juicer to do all the work. Remember slower feed means more juice, and less waste. Google Julio's Natural Food Emporium to get a list of their great smoothies. I especially recommend their: Tantra, Planet Energy, and Wai-kee-kee

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I googled masticating juicers since I have heard they are better. I found this one in the list but I cant find where is does masticating anywhere ?**
A: The best juicer is the one you'll ACTUALLY use.
Juicing MYTH #1 Make the BEST juice. Asking which one makes the "BEST" juice is a irrelevant question. I ended up with the Juice Fountain Elite because it makes good (enough) juice and FAST!!! My wife and I both work and morning time is at a premium. Any juice is better than no juice because you didn't have time to make the juice. This juicer is FAST. Granted, I've been juicing for >5 years now, but my time from picking up the first carrot to clean to putting away the last cleaned part of the juicer is 30min by myself and 17min with my wife.
Remember, ANY fresh juice is better than no juice. My wife and I drink 1 liter of fresh juice each day. I don't pre-make juice as I feel it oxidzes and it doesn't taste fresh.
Juicing MYTH #2 You DON'T drink fresh juice because it tastes good. You drink it because is REALLY good for you! So stop whining about the taste. BTW, beet greens taste way better than kale and have more nutrition.
Juicing MYTH #3 You don't need all kinds of crazy stuff in your juice. You need a good balance of colors. You need quality ingredients that you can afford.
Just for fun, here's my recipe: 4 carrots, 1 Granny Smith, 1 bunch of red beets WITH the greens, 1 bunch of cilantro, 1 lemon, ginger (thumb-sized). Hint: when you first start go easy on the hot stuff like ginger and garlic.
Just my story............go make your own, but I recommend it include juicing!

**Q: I would like to get the most juice possible from my fruits and vegetables. Which Breville model is best?**
A: I have owned two other centrifugal juicers and an Omega 8006 masticating juicer. I loved my Omega, but I do a lot of juicing. I had upgraded the barrel and auger to the heavy duty one. When the end cap broke recently, I decided I was ready for something more durable. I got the Breville 800JEXL. Best decision I have made regarding juicers ever. I seriously got nearly twice the juice from it, and the pulp is so much drier. I juice a 6 pound bag of carrots every day, so I know the quantity of carrots going in is the same. I used to get just a smidge over a quart of juice from my Omega. Now I get just under 2 quarts from the same 6 pound bag of carrots- consistently every time. One day I was in a rush so I kind of pushed the carrots through faster and noticed more moisture in the pulp and a little less juice. Not rushing is key to max juice extraction. The centrifugal juicer is so much faster than the masticating one anyway that it still saves time. Centrifugal juicers can be noisier than masticating ones, but this one is not bad at all- much to my surprise. The juice temp may rise a teeny bit, indicating possible nutrient loss, but I would say it is about the same as the masticating juicer. For me, I wanted max juice, easy cleanup, and not taking forever to do. This met all my needs and I am much happier with the results compared to my Omega 8006. If you can pay several thousand $$$ then you can get a high quality masticating juicer, but they are still fairly slow. For the money, this one is great.

**Q: What happens is you run kale pulp thru a second time?**
A: When I ran the pulp through, the juice was too strong for me. I use just a small amount of kale in my juice because it is so strong. I use 1 or 2 red beets and the leaves, which are a great source of nutrients. I also like fresh turnip greens along with various types of lettuce and parsley. I like to experiment with the juices. I do not juice citrus rinds nor tough stalks like kale has. I usually add a few granny Smith Apple's, a couple of grapefruit and a couple of oranges to taste. I juice every other day. Have fun!

**Q: Why buy the 800JEXL and pay 3 times as much as I would for the BJE200XL?!**
A: The 800JEXL looks and sounds like it means business. When you see it you think, (in a overly macho tone) 'Yeah ... this thing juices'. The BJE200XL on the other hand, while I'm sure it works well for $100, looks more a toy with it's circular window and cleanup sounds like it's a real PITA. If you're going to buy a juicer, spend the money on fresh fruit and vegetables, and take the time to juice them, you might as well do yourself a favor and get the best model you can.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredible machine, great results!
*by I***A on January 9, 2007*

I have not owned any other juice machine but after doing my "homework", I was hoping I made the right choice. All I can say is this is becoming more and more fun with less time to clean up. All parts do clean very easily, and actually that's the easiest part. For me my preparation of all the fruits and vegetables is mildly time consuming, even though I know you can throw things in there whole. Somehow the thought of little stems, seeds and tiny pits going in there don't thrill me but I'm starting to overlook those things now. I have made some incredible pitchers of juice, at times using a large combo of fruits and at other times, using less combos of fruits. I have learned that when I toss in small things like blueberries, blackberries, small carrots, etc., I must quickly cover the top with my hand before they fly out of the chute all over the place. Yes, like I said, it's a learning experience. Large chunks of fruits and carrots (only vegetable I can tolerate juiced thus far) make an awesome drink and my kids love it too. I have been experimenting with the choice of items in chute and the speed at which things are juiced at. There are 2 speeds: higher and lower. I have made many little mistakes along the way, from causing a huge mess with juice overflowing out of the container and down the cabinets, to stuff flying out of the top and staining my wood cabinets. I have gotten much better at this. The other thing is this can become a very costly addiction.....I spend a fortune on organic fruits and vegetables and in a flash, $50-$75 worth of fruit is in one small to medium pitcher! The amount of pulp that goes in the garbage is scary looking. Cleanup takes about 10 minutes total. Be sure to put a small garbage bag or a plastic bag in the container that catches the pulp or it will be a messier cleanup for sure. The only thing I cannot acquire a taste for is the green juice. As much as I eat only organically grown fruits and vegetables, I just cannot get green juice down my throat. I know it's something that has to grow on you but I think I'd rather eat raw veggies anytime than drink them. I keep saying I'll try it again but I get weak thinking about swallowing that stuff! Ugh....no one can honestly say it tastes really good unless they have no taste buds. The fruit drinks on the other hand are absolutely fantastic. I guess it's all personal taste and to each his own likes and dislikes. I am not disappointed with this machine at all. It is not cheap though but I hope it lasts a very long time. It is beautifully constructed but it does take up alot of counter space and it is tall than the bottom of my cabinet area so I have to put it alongside the cabinets, next to my sink area, but that's okay. It looks really attractive and sits near my other neat machines, as I do have alot of counter space. If you are patient and willing to do a little cutting and cleaning up, you will not be disappointed. My total time preparing, juicing and cleaning up my mess is 30 minutes from start to finish and the container lasts me 2 days, if I'm lucky and I can hide it from my family!
