**Q: Is the sliding head piece removable when not in use?**
A: Yes it is removable when not in use. However, when I bought this product I thought it would be made of metal. It is not it is made of plastic.

**Q: does this item include both the measuring rod AND sliding headpiece?  Looking to purchase item to use in Free Medical Clinic so have limited funds**
A: Answer: yes it does.  Both parts were included in my purchase of this item.
