This never tore, but the fit wasn't as good, the hard plastic wobbled while in place and eventually fell off like the oem did (I carry my camera sling style and the eye piece bumps against my hip alot). I bought the oem again and am much happier than with aftermarket but its good to have a spare just in case since I've already lost 2.
