When the valve is released, the air flow from the compressor supply should be shut off killing the Venturi effect and eliminating the air coming out of the vent diffuser. Keep in mind that there is a trigger locking wire that can hold the trigger in the 'on position' so make sure that this is flipped towards the hose so that the trigger can release to its 'off' position. When your's is 'sucking air' without pressing the thumb throttle, is air coming out of the vent diffuser opposite the hose hose connection on the valve assembly? It’s likely it’s coming from the adapter where you can connect an air pump to, but you don’t have to connect an air pump to it because it has a manual pump. So what I did was turn that stopcock perpendicular to shut that valve and then pump manually. If you meet some resistance stop pumping let the pump do the work, then resume pumping when the vacuum weakens. Too bad the package didn’t come with instructions.
