It seems to keep spiders away (rather than killing them when they appear) or has for at least a month so far. The predominant smell is peppermint. There's a construction project across the street that has scared up all sorts of spiders and I would find 1 or 2 in my den every day easily but haven't seen one since I've been using this product.
