Even as a beginner I notice that it gets dull fairly quick and that the blade is thick. The thickness and the scandi style grind make it unnecessary difficult to get the knife deep as it needs to push a lot of wood to the sides. Compared to a thinner knife that cuts through the wood instead of splitting it. It might be a good knife if one just wants to get a feel of what whittling is about.
