**Q: how often do you have to replace those string tie mantles?**
A: Every so often. Hard question to answer. The mantels are fragile and if you are rough with the lantern you might have to replace them more frequently. I travel with mine a lot and just keep spare mantles with the lantern. Their cheap

**Q: Can you use jet A fuel?**
A: Unless it is recommended by the manufacturer, I would not. Jet fuel is basically Kerosene and that is not recommended.

**Q: Can manufactured gasoline (tru-fuel, vp fuel) be used in these?**
A: Not recommended. White gas only. White gas has no additives.

**Q: Is the coleman double mantle295 lantern dual fuel too?**
A: Not exactly, but you can use regular gas in it.
But... 1. Coleman fuel is 55 octane. So use the lowest octane you can get with no alcohol. (The higher the octane the hotter it has to be to burn.)(not good in a lantern.)
2. The additives in regular pump gas will deposit more carbon In the generator causing it to need replaced sooner. They cost around $24.00
3. If pump gas is left in the lantern longer than a few months, it will start to gum up inside the lantern. (Just as it will a lawnmower).
I collect and restore Coleman lantern's and stove's...
So short answer is yes you can... But the 295 generator was not designed for it.
