The ones I got are no different from what I would see in a gym. If I put them close to my nose, yes I can smell industrial rubber but that’s no different from the plates in a gym. If you want zero smell, go for steel plates but those will damage the floor. Edited : Yup, little or no oil on remaining plates. There was a note as well in each box to explain why the oil may be present.
