## Description

Review: Does what it says on the box - The display came up and worked immediately, using the popular library and example code developed and shared by Adafruit.com. It is a pretty amazing little piece of kit for showing graphical & textual information directly on your micro-controller project. The display It has a high contrast and the dots are bright and crisp, making even tiny fonts quite readable. See the attached photo. Recommended; I'll be using more of them. Some background, and a mea-culpa :( Very quickly I found the same apparent issue others have reported; it seemed like there only 32 lines of pixels rather than the claimed 64. It turns out this was either a user or software error; I don't yet know which. In the course of testing my new toy, I tried several ssd1306 display libraries that didn't support features I don't need, in an attempt to reduce the memory requirement. To my surprise, one such experiment displayed 8 lines of 7-pixel-high text (8 high, counting the row skipped to separate lines): the full 64 pixels of screen height! (Since other reviewers had also reported seeing only 32 rows, I didn't look hard enough for the cause, and I reviewed this display as having been mis-spec'd or mis-represented. This review is re-written to correct my mistake and to alert other buyer/users that might have made the same assumption I did. Something was happening in the software or my use of it to limit access to the full display. I apologize to the vendor, Lanmu Direct, desertcart, and the community for that mistake.)
Review: I double and triple checked my wiring and it was all good. I tried different I2C addresses including the one ... - DOA. I ordered this awhile ago, placed it in my kit box and just now had a chance to trying it out. After hours of struggling, trying different development boards, different libraries (SSD1306), different power sources (3.3v - 5.0v), different example sketches, I was unable to get anything out of it, I tried two different I2C scanner sketches and neither turned up any results. I double and triple checked my wiring and it was all good. I tried different I2C addresses including the one printed on the back of the board and the one in most of the sample sketches. I'm not a novice when it comes to arduino circuits or components, so my only conclusion is that this arrived dead as I only placed into my kit box in its own separate compartment and left it there for 9 months untouched. There was no way for it to get damaged just sitting around. It could have been damaged in transit, but it came well packaged and in a box.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ decent display, ok price, perfect for arduino projects
*by D***E on October 8, 2016*

very pleased with this display. it arrived in typical prime style (fast!), packaged well, and when installed in my project, it werked without incident. it doesn't run hot either like another reviewer mentioned theirs did so perhaps they got a defective display. i'm using the one i purchased with an arduino project and have had absolutely no trouble with it. i wish these displays were a little cheaper domestically since i can think of dozens of projects i would use them with, but the majority of these i2c displays seem to only be available from overseas vendors (at half the price, but twice to three times the wait for shipping) so it was worth it to me to pay a little extra and get 'er quicker...
