They do say Shimano on them** A: Mine came in plastic bag and were not legit (or were defective compound). Shimano R55C4 for aluminum rims produces characteristic wear, braking, and residue (esp when wet) -- been riding these pad for many years. No way were these I received the correct compound. **Q: What's the difference between the r55c3 vs r55c4? i'm looking for more breaking power, even if it's at the cost of faster wear.** A: I don't know the specific difference between these two other than the C4 is the updated version of the C3 and Shimano claims that they have better breaking performance in dry and wet conditions. All the new Ultegra, 105 and Durace breaks comes with the C4 installed. I have used the new C4 to replace my wear out C3 and the performance is almost identical ( at least in dry, haven't tried them in wet yet). The only difference I noticed is that the C4 are less noisy. **Q: Are these compatible with Shimano Sora brakes?** A: I put these on my Shimano 105 brakes.
