How do you know your washer needs cleaning? Foul odors, itchy skin, unexplained rashes, wash cycles that seem to take forever, clothes don’t come clean, oil spots show up on clothing, frequent repairs, etc. What is the odor coming from my washing machine? Are washing machines dirty even though you run detergent in each wash? Yes. All washing machines, top load and front load, will develop a buildup of odor-causing mold, soap residue, scale, dirt, and oils behind the drum over time. This contamination may be present even if you cannot see it or smell it. The inside of your washer’s drum might not appear dirty because the clothes rub against it, keeping it clean. Why let the product soak and add hot water to the washer? Most of the contamination buildup in top-load and front-load washers is in the bottom few inches of the washer behind the drum. Just like washing dishes, hot water helps remove soil and contamination better than cold water, and soaking for longer periods of time removes more contamination. Keep in mind the contamination may be up to 1” thick on the backside of your drum. Instructions: 1.) Then I found this stuff and I read all of the reviews. I thought there’s no way this stuff can get rid of that smell, but it’s worth a try. I’M SO GLAD I TRIED because IT WORKED!!!! I followed the instructions and I used half the bottle, but I plan on buying more, so if one bottle cleans it two times, I’m okay with that. Anything is better than having your clothes smell like mold! It was so easy to use, no damage to our clothes afterwards, and as long as you keep it with your laundry stuff, you shouldn’t mistake it for medicine like someone else said they did. I was so relieved to grab a clean towel and actually smell my laundry detergent and fabric softener instead of mold. I am hoping that it would not linger and get into the laundry washed after the cleaning cycle is done. Thanks.** A: Scent does not linger. We had a nasty smell in our laundry room. Traced it to the washer, used Oh Yuk twice and odor has not returned.
