It took 2 months to go from a tiny pinch daily to my current maintenance dose of 1 teaspoon per day. Gas and extreme bloating were major side effects until about 1/2 of the way through. By the end of those 2 months, my stomach became super flat, and also (embarrassingly, but could be helpful for some), the fire in my tush finally went out. Both bloating and tush issues are sensitive areas for me, and while not a cure, this went a long way in curbing those symptoms. Obviously, this will work only if one is lactose intolerant. I read a paper postulating that the decreasing ability of adults to digest lactose could provide advantage (thus selective pressure?) in maintaining intestinal health into advanced age.
