When I found this gadget I had no idea how great it would be until I got it home and set it up. You see, I have an elderly mother. I wouldn't say near the end of her life, but she's definitely slowing down. I wanted to get an uncomplicated music player for her that I could load all the songs from her era, the 40s and 50s, so she could fall asleep to or wake up to familiar sounds.I'm not going to go into all the great things this cube does because there's a million other reviews. Just know that you can use it without bluetooth just fine. The clock is clear. The "touch" nightlight feature is brilliant, and if the power goes out it still works because it's got a built-in rechargeable battery.I will note that I added rubber bumpers, (those tiny rubber dots on the bottom of electronics that keep them from slipping around,) to the "MODE" button and the "- VOLUME" button. Those alone, allow my mom to turn on the cube, (sometimes you have to cycle to the SCH setting for the micro SD card to start playing,) and turn the volume down and up.I will buy more of these marvels. I just wish I knew who the "actual" manufacturer was. (There are a lot of third-party branded ones out there.) This speaker is able to connect via bluetooth eliminating the need for any wires whatsoever. I connect it to an old iPhone that I use for playing music. I don't have to touch the phone ever using this speaker. It's able to turn the phone on and automatically connect to the last music source I was playing. I can play, pause and skip around using the speaker buttons as well. It's perfect. The connection range is strong enough that I can move room to room and even go out to the backyard with it leaving my phone indoors.The light function was perfect for middle of the night diaper changes without having to turn on the big light.I'm still learning some of the functions.
