Review: Gorgeous, sturdy and ideal for me. - I love these dishes! They are gorgeous and the color is deep and the pics just don't do them justice. I searched for just the right set for 2-3 years, found these, added them to my wish list and dithered some more because of some of the reviews. I got them and liked them so much I bought another set because I break stuff and wanted spare parts. The thing is they are so sturdy that I haven't even chipped one piece!! I dropped a bowl today, it went flying, and it didn't break or chip or anything! Seriously, not one thing I've dropped on this floor hasn't broken, bent, chipped, whatever...until now. I love the lipped plates because, aside from the cool factor, I eat in my big easy chair so no spillage. The shape of the bowl makes it so easy to hold. I've had these dishes for months now and they look brand new. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Gibson again if, unlikely, I need to get new dishes.

**Q: Has anyone experienced scratches to the finish from forks and knives after use?**
A: We have only had them for a month and have no scratch issues. We bought these to replace dishes that were scratched

**Q: Are these dishes a true red?**
A: Yes they are!! Bought 2 sets

**Q: One of our plates arrived with a chip in it. Would we be able to get one replacement plate sent to us?**
A: The plates we got didn't have a chip on them when we got them for Christmas but since then we have got 3 plates with chips and 1 bowl with a chip. We are not very happy with this brand. I asked for replacements but they don't have any left.

**Q: Are these dishes nonbreakable**
A: I have not broken any of my dishes.  I have used them in the oven, refrigherator, dishwasher, etc.  I would think that like all ceramic materials, this stoneware would break fairly easily if dropped on a hard surface such as floor tiles.

I bought this Gibson Soho four piece dinnerware set (Mate Red/Black) as a "used-like new" offering. The set came in its original packaging and everything was in fact like new. They are great looking dishes, stack well, and are best suited if space is at a premium. A little on the heavy side but not too heavy. Since they are a matte finish (no over glazing to protect the surface), over time some scratching can be expected. I would not recommend slicing/carving foods such as steak directly on the plate. Best to pre-cut on a cutting board. Looking at the other reviews, scratches seem to be the only issues that result in dropping a star. That said, this is a solid 5/4 star product. Finally, the reasonable price point is a plus.
