Or the fawn color, to try and match my English tan/light brown wallet?** A: It depends upon whether or not you need to renew the color. I would choose Saphirp Renovateur over neutral in that case. It does more to hydrate and condition the leather. Light brown is what I use on my walnut Allen Edmonds shoes and that will work for your purpose as well. I **Q: Is this worth the extra cost? I already have a cordovan polish cream from Allen Edmonds.** A: This is a great product but it is no better than Allen Edmonds. **Q: How often should you use this? I thought cordovan was known for being low maintenance and pretty much indestructible.** A: I would agree with your statement that cordovan really just needs a good brushing and because of the oils in the leather responds well to just a good brushing. I mainly use rarely (maybe a couple times a year) for nicks/scratches and any water marks using the tiniest amount. And from what I understand cordovan doesn't do well with too much cream and or polish and actually less is way better. I specially chose Saphir as opposed to say Kiwi because Saphir claims to have more natural solvents, etc and plus cordovan is expensive and I figured if I can afford an expensive pair of shoes I should also correlate and use a well known premium care product. My shoes shine to a mirror finish with just a brushing and a tack cloth. **Q: Is the black color only for black shell cordovan?** A: Yes! As this has pigment in it so it will probably darken any other colour. It is a different story if you are trying to do some shading on the toe or heel of a brown, dark brown, navy or burgundy shoe. Then you can use it.
