Review: Low power but bright. - I purchased these for a BMW X3 (e83), they replace the map lights in the overhead console. I was initially disappointed with the look in the daylight when fitted as the whiter light looks a bit unnoticeable. However once all the others were fitted, in the dark it looks very modern and lights the interior much better than the previous yellower bulbs whilst reducing the overall power consumption by about 80+percent. They are well priced and should last years, run cooler than the normal bulbs whilst using alot less power. They are compatible with the 2 map reading lights and are pretty easy to change, you just carefully prise out the overhead panel, then the bulb holders twist 90 degrees then you pull out the old bulb and insert the new. Slide the overhead unit back in and you’re done. Review: Quality - Having tried Autobeam (I thought they were a good brand given their high prices) as well as the cheaper Chinese ones on desertcart which all fail/fall apart or are too big and bulky to fit the housings, these Osram's are by far and away the best. They are virtually the same size as the W5W standard bulbs; really easy to fit (many of these LED replacements are bulkier) the brightness and colour temperature is perfect and they are in my mind very affordable given their use case and how much of a difference they make to the interior. Hyperflashing caused when car is canbus **Q: Only for off road use?? Can’t these be used on the road in the UK?** A: Yes these bulbs are illegal for use in external front lamps...but they are perfectly legal for interior use. I personally don't see a problem with using these as side lamp bulbs as if your leaving your side lamps on when parked on an unlit road they are a white light and consume less power draw from your battery with the engine off. Obviously the choice is yours.. **Q: Ive fitted these bulbs they flicker too full brightness then stay on dull any reasons why ?** A: It depends on car make. Most cars have CAN-BUS system which checks the bulbs and the electrical system for any issues.
