In spite of the battery compartment, it has very little clutter on the sides or top to obscure situational awareness view around it. The next closest in the 1X red dots I've used is the 25mm objective on a Primary Arms MD-25 ACSS. Its design is nearly a clone of the Aimpoint Comp M4. Housing is very durable and definitely not fragile. Red dot is crisp and its brightness adjustment range spans all the levels of lighting range I've encountered, indoors and out. Automatically turns itself off if left idle for a couple minutes and comes back to life immediately when picked up, without any delay.
