The batteries were were defective and too small so they popped out of the tray. That was the entire problem all along. That is why nothing worked. The batteries were 1-2 mm smaller. So this was defective batteries the manufacturer was getting rid of. If you have the same problem just replace the batteries and everything will work. It's a great item and does exactly as advertised. Battery tray defect. No circuit connection OR Defective night sensor. The unit is defective. It does not work in "minutes" as advertised. The batteries do not stay put with the cover on. There is no way to make the batteries stay in the tray. You could add glue on the batteries. But there is no anchor. And even when the batteries are held in with the unit there is no electrical connection. No red light. No green light. The only reason I purchased this is because there is a green night light on the keypad! I tried contacting the seller and there is no reply. I expect a replacement or refund to be issued immediately.
