Is it really 9lbs?** A: its plastic and very light. i had a stroke so i can no longer shuffle. this item is great. it is a little noist but its great **Q: Does crank last?** A: So far, so good. I don't use it much though. A friend has a different model, also a hand crank, and she uses it a lot -- no problems at all. I have to say using it is fun and especially good for a person with small hands (me). **Q: How many decks of cards does it shuffle?** A: It will shuffle 2 decks into 1 deck ( does not keep each deck separate once shuffled ) If you only want to shuffle one deck you need to put half on each side. It works very well and while it is made of plastic, it is very sturdy for its intended use. My kids and I love the tactile feel of turning the handle and the kids argue over whose turn it is to turn the handle.
