Review: This highly rated item was easy to install and hopefully it will stop appliance and furnace breakdowns due to electrical surges. I had a circuit board go out on my furnace last summer, it had a burnt splotch on the back of the board. I can't say for sure what caused it, but it cost me $700 to repair. A lot of people think electrical surges come from the utility that serves them. Although that's true when we have outages and power gets restored, there's more to surges than just that. Every time a high amperage appliance is turned on, the initial startup produces a surge that backfeeds into your circuit breaker panel and spreads that surge to all the other circuits in your home. Your furnace fan that comes on with your heat and air, your washer and dryer, anything with a high current draw produces electrical surges, even larger surges if those appliances are all electric. These surges are especially damaging to costly items like TV's and computers whose circuitry is low voltage, low amperage. This piece of equipment costs far less than replacing a TV damaged by an electrical surge and it helps protect everything electrical in your home.
