Only $10 for a 150-feet roll ($8 at HD/Lowes). If you're still having trouble, try holding a 3x5 note card with it's edge aligned (parallel) with the center line of the shaft so that only 1/2 of the shaft is visible to the device, then it will only be able to measure the flag one time per rotation and it won't accidentally pick up the flag's reflection twice as it goes around. **Q: how is the battery life when not in use... I had one similar to this one and if i left the battery in it would kill them. anyone else have this prob?** A: I received mine in December 2018. I use it infrequently. Up till now (about six months) the battery is still good and working well. **Q: I know this unit can read off the RPM, but does it also count a number of revolution?** A: It does not count the total number of revolutions. You would have to do the math (RPM x minutes). This is a basic unit that shows a minimum and maximum value (RPM) obtained during a reading. It also requires reflective tape to be applied on the shaft (or rotating object).
