Its a shadow. I popped a torch down to the bottom and there is definitely NO rubber. Its pressed steel. These are great steel bottles and have a screw on cap with a silicone rubber seal. Reading through these comments it seems to me they may be for different models? These though are great. Keep my drinks cool all day especially nice as I am working in the sun. Good amount of liquid, (500ml), and no problem to roll around my van. They don't break. Really good value and nothing much to go wrong as there is really only one part and that's the lid/cap. 10/10 Recommend.
