I tried all sorts of things to get the cover to come loose or get disoriented while it was mounted and it simply didn't budge. The brake pedal was a different story. Removing the factory rubber padding is required, and the new one then replaces it completely over the metal pedal itself. IT IS A SNUG FIT. As others have mentioned, I let the pedal rest in hot water for about 10 minutes to loosen up the rubber a bit. It's kind of awkward getting down there, but it's you finally get it all locked in right, it is 100% not going anywhere. My girlfriend, who doesn't care much about this stuff, said that they looked good, and when she drove it said they felt no different than the factory pedals. 10/10 recommend these for anyone just looking to do something simple to add a little bit of style to their Explorer ST.
